BEFORE BABY ARRIVES

The organization at my house was out of control but I’m so thankful for it! I created little caddies for around the house that I was beyond happy for because everything was easily accessible the second I got home from the hospital - two breastfeeding ones (one by rocker in upstairs nursery and one by chair in our bedroom) and a postpartum one (master bathroom). I did a bit of online research and chatted with my best friend who was also pregnant at the time to make sure I had everything I needed.

I used this caddy from Amazon.

BREASTFEEDING CADDY

  • Nipple cream

  • Haaka - you suction this to one side while baby is feeding on the other and it catches any extra milk

  • Nipple covers -

  • Soothing cooling nipple pads

  • Nursing pads for leaking - I used these daily

  • Ice/heat pads - for if you are in pain

  • Always keep a water bottle nearby - if you are like me, BF made me super thirsty. Also, keep a phone charger near your BF/pumping stations because sometimes you just need a good scroll while baby is feeding

POSTPARTUM CADDY

  • Frida Mom Postpartum set

  • My favorite Diapers

  • Pads - I liked the ones from the hospital because they weren’t super thick so asked for an additional box to take

  • Colace stool softener

  • Witch hazel pads - the ones from the hospital were great so I asked for another pack to take home with me!

  • Peri bottle

  • Pain relief spray - this helped me

PERSONAL PERKS

  • Create a drawer or section in your room/closet with a few things for you to look forward to wearing. I bought some new items and pulled things I already owned. If you are breastfeeding like I have been, you’ll want to be in comfortable clothes that are easy to feed/pump in. For the first week or two I wore a nursing bra with a cardigan or robe and comfy pants/shorts.

  • Purchase some yummy candles and put throughout your house. I bought Candlefish and Diptyque ones.

  • Fresh flowers! I purchased some then when my mom was in town she put so many beautiful arrangements around our house - it was such a special treat to come back to.

  • Make sure you are stocked up on your favorite face masks, bath salts, body washes, lotions, etc. You will love having all of those little things that feel like you when you get a minute to yourself.
